Welcome!

I am a scholar of American political thought with a particular interest in the meaning(s) of political concepts as well as computational methods of engaging with texts.

My book project, The Idea of Equality in America, explores the history and meaning of the idea of equality in America. Other political concepts I’ve explored in published or (hopefully!) forthcoming work include dignity, recognition, alienation, creativity, and judgment. I am also at work on several papers that explore how political theorists can engage with large language models. Visit my research page to learn more.

In fall 2022, I joined the Political Science Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell as an assistant professor. If you are a student looking for current course materials, visit my Teaching page or shoot me an email.
